Our Principles

The Wanderers Way rests on a set of principles forming the basis of relationships, expectations and activity for club players, officials and supporters.

Reciprocity

We ask you approach your engagement with Wanderers with a giving mindset.

What can you give that would build a better environment? Develop better players? Encourage connections?

In practical terms this principle looks like all Wanderers contributing through volunteering, Academy coaching, grant submissions, coaching, managing, and the list goes on.

Optimal Distinctiveness

In brief, everyone wants to belong to something greater than themselves and, paradoxically, everyone wants to feel unique. A useful analogy is a family – treat all the kids fairly yet differently. What is right for a 6 year old is different to what is right for a 16 year old. In practical terms, this principle looks like funding support to senior teams travelling to Sydney for pre-season with junior teams’ entry to major tournaments covered by club funds.

Progress

For everything we do, how do we improve? Whether coaching development, functions, connections, partnerships, support to senior teams, looking for and acting on the one thing we can improve will drive progress.
